Your words stay
on your devices.
This page describes the current TextReview website and the private beta’s data flow.

Message analysis
The Mac helper reads the Messages history available on your Mac when you request analysis. Message bodies are processed temporarily on that Mac. TextReview does not upload them to this website or a hosted analysis service, and the app does not retain a transcript.
The helper holds conversation labels and requested statistical reports during the session. Reports may contain word frequencies, communication cues, and contact names if enabled. Those results are private information too.
The connection between devices
The iPhone and Mac connect over your local network. Fresh session keys encrypt requests, conversation labels, and reports. Pairing requires comparing a code and confirming on both devices. Sessions expire after 15 minutes; the phone clears its session when backgrounded. The prototype has not received an independent security audit.
Optional Contacts access
On the Mac, Contacts permission is used to match conversation phone numbers or emails to names. Only matching names and conversation handles are shared with the paired phone. The app does not upload your address book to our server or modify your Contacts cards. Name choices remain in the Mac helper’s memory until it quits.
Reports you export
PDF and image exports are previewed on the iPhone. You decide whether to include names or word lists and where to share the file. Temporary export files are removed when the export view closes or during cleanup on the next launch. A copy saved or sent through another app is controlled by that destination, not TextReview.
This website
The current website has no account system, email signup form, advertising, or analytics trackers. The sample report uses invented data. Its tabs run in your browser and do not submit information.
Like other hosted websites, the hosting server may log ordinary requests, including IP address, time, requested page, browser information, and response status for operation and security. We have not established a custom retention schedule for the hosting provider’s logs. We do not connect these requests to your Messages history. The site’s assets are served from this domain.
Apple and beta feedback
Apple operates TestFlight and the App Store under its own privacy terms. Beta feedback, screenshots, and crash or usage information you share through Apple may be made available to the developer. Do not include private message contents in feedback unless you deliberately choose to disclose them.
Optional accounts and notifications
The 0.6 beta added optional email accounts through Google Firebase Authentication. If you create an account, Firebase processes your email address, password credentials, account identifier, and authentication-related technical information. Firebase handles password storage; TextReview does not store your password on this website.
Firestore stores account notification preferences, timezone, consent version, and update timestamps. If you verify your email and opt in to product news, Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service process installation identifiers and device notification tokens to deliver notifications. Firestore stores your device registration for this purpose. No message content, contact names, word lists, or report files are uploaded to Firebase.
Weekly reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone and do not require an account. Product news and feedback invitations are a separate optional push choice, which can be turned off in Account. This does not subscribe you to marketing email. Verification and password recovery emails are requested through the account controls.
You can sign out or delete your account in the app. Deletion removes the account profile and device registrations from our live database and requests deletion of your Firebase Authentication account. Provider backups, operational records, and technical identifiers may have separate retention periods. See Firebase’s privacy and security information. Crashlytics is not enabled in this integration.
Optional app usage analytics
Starting with the 0.7 beta, TextReview asks before enabling Google Analytics for app usage. Analysis works if you decline. If you opt in, Google processes fixed feature-use events such as opening app sections, connecting the Mac, starting or completing analysis, creating an export, and using account or notification controls. Events may include a selected period, export format, broad failure category, or a duration bucket.
Google Analytics also processes an analytics installation identifier and technical information such as app version, device model, operating system, session timing, and approximate region derived from the connection. This identifier allows return-visit measurement; the data is not anonymous. We do not send messages, contact names or numbers, email addresses, Firebase account IDs, word lists, communication climate scores, report contents, filenames, or free-form errors to Analytics. We do not enable advertising identifiers, Google signals, personalized ads, or optional Google account data sharing.
You can turn usage analytics off in Account. This stops future collection and resets the device’s analytics identifier and local analytics data; it does not erase events already processed by Google. Provider retention, operational records, and aggregate reports have separate retention rules. Analytics usage counts reflect consenting installations and may undercount overall use. Apple download and TestFlight totals are reported separately. See Firebase privacy information.
No account required
Analysis does not require registration. Optional accounts in the 0.6 beta are for account preferences and notifications. No signup or marketing email form is active on this website today.
Limits and control
You can end a session, quit the helper, or revoke its Full Disk Access, Contacts, and Local Network permissions through device settings. Keep Messages settings are managed by Apple, separately from TextReview.
Communication climate is an experimental description of text cues. It is not a psychological diagnosis, proof of abuse, or a validated relationship-health assessment.
